Long summers
hours roaming free
four siblings and Scamp
in a dingy out to sea
making huts in the bushes
a racing go-cart
ambushing the paper boy
late nights at the park
riding bikes with bare feet
burnt skin and stubbed toes
back to a house painted pink
and a climbing white rose.
