I was born in Ethiopia and started singing and dancing at the age of three. Seeing people’s smiling faces around me inspired me to study all types of art. I walked to church every day and sang in the choir.
After moving to America, I was introduced to many different styles of music, and I’d perform for anyone who was around. I fell in love with musical theatre, and when I was five I played Gretel in The Sound of Music. I also played Temoon in Once on This Island and went on to perform in many other musicals.
Starting at age six, I danced with the San Francisco Ballet for seven years. I did my first solo performance, “Think of Me” from The Phantom of the Opera, when I was seven. I also had the opportunity to perform with Alvin Ailey in New York.
I’ve studied several instruments, including piano, violin, guitar, and flute. And I won first place for a cover song while competing with other schools.
I’m also interested in songwriting, and I’ve learned how to freestyle and produce my own music by watching YouTube videos.
At the moment, I’m busking and building a YouTube channel and Instagram page with original and cover music. I plan to release an original single and continue sharing my music with the world.
